From my chair I can watch the birds on a feeder in the garden - goldfinches, greenfinches, bluetits, robins, sparrows, often joined by an increasingly rotund squirrel. I bought the somewhat rickety desk about 10 years ago from a now defunct shop on Mill Road - unusually, it’s made from ash. One day I’ll get around to acquiring a chair that matches it better...
